Kokoda Track AchievementsThe following quote, written by Graham Pickles, CEO, Hagemyer - August 2004, summarises Our Spirit's goal to encourage participants to help others while doing something positive for themselves.
"Aidan has been instrumental in organising the building of schools and arranging for improvements in access to basic medical treatment for many of the locals who live along the track. He was really excited when I told him of my idea to raise some money, and he suggested that raising money to provide some kids with basic education would be a really worthy cause. I can recommend Aidan and his team as being the most professional operators on the track" |

Our Spirit & Wellbeing Solutions have been taking groups regularly across the Kokoda Track since 1996. With each trek, we arrive with clothing and school supplies for the local papuan children, and hope to soon establish a foundation dedicated to providing scholarships. In fact, our companies have already helped build a school for the local community of Vesulogo. Fifty local children now learn english, maths, reading and writing. As you can see they are extremely happy with their school and their new uniforms donated by local Australian schools.
During 2004, Our Spirit began supplying children from the local Kokoda Track communities with soccer jerseys and balls. In November 2004, Our Spirit was proud to launch the annual soccer tournament for National Kokoda Day supplying participating teams with soccer jerseys and balls for the match.
Our Spirit is committed to promoting Australian history all on levels. One of our directors, Aidan Grimes purchases Australian war medals from pawn shops and the Internet and then sources the family of the medal owner. The medals tell a story of suffering, happiness and pride that has affected not only the diggers but also families. He takes the medals across the Kokoda Track for a final journey and then presents them to the family, where they can have an appreciated and celebrated resting place.
