Supplied/provided by participant (at own expense):

  • Personal trekking gear (including a backpack, boots and appropriate clothing)
  • Pre trek preparation - a doctor’s clearance to verify that the participant is physically fit to complete the trek (certification not required by Our Spirit)
  • Malarial medication
  • Basic personal first-aid kit (detailed in participant guide)
  • Passport and visa (obtain on arrival at Port Moresby airport - currently $50AUD)
  • Personal expenses in Port Moresby
  • Excess Baggage (limit of 20kg allowed)
  • Personal porter (Kokoda Legend) to carry your backpack during the trek ($520 AUD - includes meals and return airfare for porter) can be booked prior to departure if required.  Kokoda backpacks are available to purchase or hire from Port Moresby.
  • Additional fresh local fruit and vegetables can be purchased from villagers if desired.

Our Spirit Pty Ltd holds current public liability insurance and maintains comprehensive risk management procedures for all our adventures as part of our standard business practice.

It is recommended that each person joining the party be physically prepared by the time of departure. An exercise program, including training walks and nutritional advice are included in the program.

There are several sessions within the program that require training with full packs, (that is the backpack and all equipment you intend to use on the trek). By wearing or breaking in your hiking boots, you will minimise the risk of blisters and unnecessary sweat problems if they can be addressed prior to commencing the trek.
